Something happened on the way to church. People realized they were watching more videos, CG images and sermons on TV or on large projection screens while in church. So many figured hey, if I’m going to watch TV at church why not do church at home! This phenomenon started with the advent of TV evangelism in the 70′s and has continued through the development of online technology today.
Online technology has rapidly developed and must be embraced by ministry. We are told that we must “go and tell” not sit in the same building week after week. Sharing the message through digital (online) technology (audio, video etc…) can deliver amazing results for the Kingdom. Preaching “at” a congregation is a one way “monologue”. Today’s texting, multi-media generation has a voice and needs to be heard through dialogue which can happen only through two-way dynamic dialogue utilizing current and future technology.
Whether you are in ministry or a business, you must design your online strategy with a more “helicopter, big-picture, connect with the culture” view – you will be amazed and blessed by the results. In the very near future everyone will be their own broadcast entity and the time to start considering this phenomenon and how it will impact you and the world is now.
